Protecting the Exterior of your Home from Vegetation Damage

Updated: Sep 4, 2023

It is important to ensure that small, landscaping vegetation is not in direct contact with the materials on a building or house. Materials require ventilation to be able to quickly dry after exposure to rain and from other water sources. Without adequate ventilation moisture can become trapped for extended times which leads to rot and other types of decay.

For larger vegetation, specifically trees, they need to be maintained to prevent branches from coming into contact with a building during wind storms. The branches can cause premature wear to siding, shingles, soffits, fascia, and eavestroughs.

The photos below were taken during some of my inspections and were documented are requiring maintenance.
